‘Thunderbolts*’ Makes Noise at Weekend Box Office

Thunderbolts* took in an estimated $76 million at the box office, starting the summer movie season on a positive note.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* was helped by its 88% fresh Rotten Tomatoes score (and 94% Popcornmeter) and an “A-” CinemaScore. Thunderbolts* also earned $86.1 million from international markets. With positive reviews and strong post-exit word of mouth, expect Thunderbolts* to continue to rake in the dollars over the next two months.

In other positive news, Sinners continues to outperform any initial box office expectations, taking in another $33 million in its third weekend of release, down just 28% from its second weekend. Director Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s film has grossed $181 million domestically and $57 million overseas for a grand total of $236 million worldwide to date, making the historical vampire story a major hit.
