‘The Evil Dead’s’ Bruce Campbell Writes ‘DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead’

Sgt. Rock and the Easy Company is about to get a Jonah Hex-style horror make-over in DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock vs. The Army of the Dead this September.

And speaking of the Army of the Dead, noted actor and slayer of all manner of undead creatures Bruce Campbell will pen the six issue miniseries with art by Eisner and Harvey Award-Winning artist Eduardo Risso.

The story begins in Berlin, 1944 at the close of World War II with Nazi forces falling on all sides. In a last ditch effort to win the war, Hitler commands his diabolical scientists to create a serum that will resurrect the Third Reich’s dead soldiers, creating an army of Nazi zombies. Who can stand against such an army? None other than Sgt. Franklin John Rock and his tough as nails troop.

Issue #1 goes on sale September 27, with a number of variant covers to choose from by The Walking Dead’s Charlie Adlard (1:25), Francesco Francavilla (open order), Chris Mooneyham (1:50), Pia Guerra (1:100), and Frank Quitely’s variant cover that is so outrageous that it will be sold with a duffel bag in order to conceal the horrors within.

Check out the main cover by Gary Frank and the Francavilla variant below.
