‘The DC Universe by Steve Ditko’ Omnibus Collects Famed Artist’s Work at DC Comics

Comic legend Steve Ditko’s DC work is celebrated in the new DC Universe by Steve Ditko Omnibus.

Previously issued as a two volume Omnibus series in 2011 and 2012, the new combined edition includes even more Ditko stories across multiple decades.

The Omnibus collects stories from Detective Comics #483-485, Legends of the DC Universe 80-Page #1, Tales of the New Gods #1, House of Secrets #139 and 148, World’s Finest #249-255, Adventure Comics #467-478, Showcase #73 and 75, House of Mystery #236, 247, 254, 258, and 276, First Issue Special #7, Beware the Creeper #1-6, Cancelled Comics Cavalcade #2, Strange Adventures #188-189, The Legion of Super-Heroes #267-268, 272, 274, 276, and 281, Shade, the Changing Man #1-8, Plop! #16, Weird War Tales #46, 49, 95, 99, and 104-106, Secrets of Haunted House #9, 12, 41, and 45, The Unexpected #189 and 221, Ghosts #77 and 111, Mystery in Space #111 and 114-116, Time Warp #1-4, Stalker #1-4, Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #257, Amazing World of DC Comics #13, The Outsiders #13, The Hawk and the Dove #1-2, Man-Bat #1, DC Special Series #9, and Action Comics #642.

While Ditko’s art and writing are certainly the star of the show here, other writers represented in the Omnibus include Michael Fleisher, David Vern Reed, Jack Dieck, Jack C. Harris, Len Wein, Arnold Drake, Bob Ingersoll, Stan Timmons, Sheldon Mayer, Steve Skeates, Robert Kanigher, George Kashdan, Joey Cavalieri, Gerry Conway, Otto Binder, Dave Wood, Paul Levitz, J.M. DeMatteis, Dan Mishkin, Gary Cohn, David Alikas, Mike QW. Barr, Steve Utley, Paul Kuooerberg, Roy Thomas, Don Segall, Dennis O’Neil, Elliot S. Ditko shares art duties on some stories with Mike Royer, Wayne Howard, Ernie Chan, Gary Martin, Vince Coletta, Al Milgrom, Sal Trapani, Romeo Tanghal, Wally Wood, Dan Adkins, Dave Hunt, Bob Wiacek, Frank Chiaramonte, Bruce Patterson, Mike Peppe, Jerry Ordway, Gil Kane, Jim Mooney, Carmine Infantino, John Nyberg, Ian Akin, Brian Garvey, Kevin Nowlan, and Mick Gray.

The Omnibus collects a wide variety of stories (many of them from DC’s anthology titles) from different genres but also includes Ditko’s creations such as Shade, the Changing Man, Hawk and Dove, and the Creeper and plenty of his superhero work.

The DC Universe by Steve Ditko Omnibus consists of 1,264 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
