Prepare yourself for multiple nights of classic horror film treats all throughout October on TCM.
The main event, of course, is TCM’s Halloween Terror-Thon, starting on Friday, October 30 at 6:00 am and running for 48 consecutive hours.
Along with all of horror hits and rarities, this year’s Terror-Thon also includes the debut of the documentary Vincent Price: What Keeps Us Alive (premiering on October 30 at 8:00 pm). The documentary focuses on the life and work of Price, with contributions from fans like John Waters and Tim Burton, and Price’s daughter, Victoria, son Vincent Barrett and grandsons Jody and Keir.
A Price marathon follows the documentary with classics like House of Wax, House on Haunted Hill, and The Tingler.
This year’s Hollywood Terror-Thon also features three other network premieres: 1979’s Dracula (starring Frank Langella), Brian De Palma’s horror-musical Phantom of the Paradise, and the full-length Pufnstuf movie (also billed as Pufnstuf Zaps the World), a spin-off of the trippy Sid and Marty Krofft television series H.R. Pufnstuf.
If you can’t wait until October 30, no worries; TCM is chock-full of horror favorites all month long, starting with late-night viewing blocks following the return of Mario Cantone and Ben Mankiewicz’s Creepy Cinema on Thursday, October 1 (and every consecutive Thursday at 8:00 pm). The midnight hour marathons following Creepy Cinema include Universal Horror, Hammer Horror, 1950s sci-fi, horror anthologies, and more.
TCM also presents “The Horror of Tod Browning” marathon on October 16, with a special daytime tribute to the acclaimed horror director starting at 12:15 pm.
Eddie Muller even gets in on the act with somethign right up his alley, Noir Alley to be exact, with the first-ever Noir Alley triple feature on Halloween night with Val Lewton’s Cat People, The Seventh Victim, and The Leopard Man.
