The beginning of Kurt Busiek’s take on the Man of Steel is the subject of the Superman by Kurt Busiek Book One hardcover collection.
The stories start all the way back in 1984 with the never-before-reprinted two-part story from Worlds Finest Comics #308 and 309 starring Superman and Batman (some of Busiek’s earliest comics work on any title), before continuing in 1996’s Superman: The Man of Steel Annual #5, and entering the 2000s with 2004’s “real-world” retelling of the origins of Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: Secret Identity #1-4.
From there, Busiek’s command of the day-to-day life of Kal-El in is highlighted in Action Comics #837-843 and Superman #650-658 with storylines such as “Up, Up, and Away”, “Back in Action”, and “Camelot Falls”.
Busiek is joined by creators Geoff Johns, Fabian Nicieza, Stuart Immonen, Pete Woods, Renato Guedes, Carlos Pacheco, George Tuska, Mark Texeira, Paul Ryan, Jesus Merino, Mark Alexander, Rick Magyar, Alfredo Alcala, and Joe Rubinstein in the collection.
Book One also includes a brand new introduction by the author, series outlines, and more extras.
Superman by Kurt Busiek Book One consists of 688 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
