Marvel’s cult sci-fi superhero mashup from the 1980s, Strikeforce: Morituri, is now available in its entirety in a new Omnibus edition
The Strikeforce: Morituri Omnibus collects all 31 issues of the original series from 1986 and the five-issue prestige format mini-series titled Strikeforce Morituri: Electric Undertow from 1989.
Creators Peter B. Gillis, Brent Anderson, and Scott Williams begin the story of the ill-fated heroes through Strikeforce Morituri #20. James D. Hudnall took the reins in issue #21 (and through Electric Undertow) with Mark Bagley, Carlos Garzon, Huw Thomas, John Calimee, Tony DeZuniga, and Val Mayerik providing the art for the culmination of the series.
Appropriately subtitled “We who are about to die”, Strikeforce Morituri’s plotline involved an alien invasion by the Horde and humanity’s attempt to fight back through the creation of “the Morituri process” which granted noble volunteers super human powers with the understanding that they would only live for a year with them.
A three volume trade paperback set of the entire series was previously released in 2012.
The Strikeforce: Morituri Omnibus consists of 1,080 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
The omnibus is available in two covers by Anderson and Williams, with “the Ultimate Sacrifice” cover and the comic shop variant cover “Paths to Glory” version (presented in order below).
