Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse eclipsed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse‘s opening weekend frame of $35.3 million with an estimated $120.5 million first weekend.
The love for Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Miguel O’Hara carried the sequel, adding an additional $88.1 million from international markets.
Across the Spider-Verse also benefited from an excellent Rotten Tomatoes score of 95% fresh and an even better Audience Score of 96%.
Even with continued competition in a busy summer season, it is pretty clear that the film will continue to bring viewers to the multiplex, perhaps for multiple viewings.
Check back next week to see how the latest Spider-Verse film fares at the weekend box office.
