Ram V and Anand RK breathe new life into Mitch Shelley in their new Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma DC Black Label limited series.
The six-issue prestige format series reintroduces Shelley as the Resurrection Man who has led thousands of lives, but with each death, he returns to life with a new superpower based on his previous cause of death.
The new creative team’s Resurrection Man takes place across time and space as Shelley goes up against a Word War II internment camp captain who has similar abilities.
“This is a story I’ve wanted to tell since I first started writing for DC,” said V. “It’s lingered and stayed and got its hooks into my mind and my love and excitement for the character and story has only grown. Part of the joy of writing comics for me, is getting to reinvent, reimagine characters in a way that speaks to my own preoccupations and joys; with Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma, I hope readers will share in my excitement as Anand, Mike and Aditya and I tell a story of endless lifetimes, saving universes and falling in love, spanning the length of all existence.”
The Resurrection Man was originally created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Jackson “Butch” Guice in 1997.
The first issue will be in stores on April 2 and features a main cover by Jeff Dékal, with variant covers by Dan Panosian, Anand RK, and Guice.
Guice will also provide artwork for one-page synopses (by V) in each issue to recap the history of the character.
