Power Girl and Fire and Ice Series Join ‘Dawn of DC’

Power Girl and the Justice League’s Fire and Ice headline two new comic book series as part of the “Dawn of DC” initiative this fall.

Power Girl and Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville spin directly out of the pages of the Power Girl Special #1 (available on May 30) by Leah Williams and Marguerite Sauvage.

Power Girl’s story continues in her new ongoing series (by Williams and Eduardo Pansica and available on September 5) when a new Kryptonian threat arises to menace the Superman family.

Fire and Ice get a jump start in Power Girl Special #1 before their Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville series is released (also on September 5) with a 10-page backup story by Joanne Starer and Natacha Bustos, featuring not only the titles characters, but also Ice’s cantankerous ex-boyfriend Guy Gardner and the Man of Steel.

Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #1 (also by Starer and Bustos) begins with Superman sending the duo to his hometown of Smallville, in order to lie low after the problems with Gardner in Baltimore. The odd couple soon finds themselves clashing over the positives and negatives of the down-home life, which results in Fire’s challenging a more than willing super villain to a backyard brawl in farm country.

Power Girl Special #1 will be available with a main cover by Sauvage and open to order variant covers by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau and Amanda Conner, a 1:25 variant by Tula Lotay, a 1:50 variant by Taj Tenfold, and a special 90s-esque foil variant by David Nakayama (pictured below).
