‘Phoenix’ Omnibus Collects All of Jean Grey’s Early Trials and Tribulations with the Phoenix Force

The brand new Phoenix omnibus collects Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum, and John Byrne’s entire galaxy-spanning tragic tale of the initial fate of Jean Grey when she comes into contact with the Phoenix Force.

While many collections have been printed before that capture the “Hellfire Club/Dark Phoenix Saga” storylines, this is the first edition to include the entire Phoenix saga, beginning with Grey’s initial rebirth as Phoenix in Uncanny X-Men #97 and continuing through issues #98-105, #107-108, and #125-138.

The omnibus also contains some rare supplementary stories from the Phoenix: The Untold Story one-shot, Bizarre Adventures #27, and the back-up stories focused on Grey from X-Men Classic/Classic X-Men #6, 8, 13, 18, 24 and 43. A classic “What if Phoenix had not Died?” hypothesis is also offered in What If? #27.

In addition to Claremont, Cockrum, and Byrne, the Phonenix Omnibus also contains work by Jo Duffy, Bob Layton, John Bolton, John Buscema, Mike Collins, Jerry Bingham, Sam Grainger, Frank Chiaramonte, Dan Green, Klaus Janson, Joe Rubinstein, John Stuart, and Terry Austin.

The Phoenix Omnibus contains 688 pages for a suggested retail price of $100.00. The omnibus also comes with two covers to choose from: the standard Russell Dauterman cover and Rick Leonardi’s variant.

Check out both covers below and look for The Phoenix Omnibus in stores on June 8.
