One of the first trade paperback collections of Marvel Comics seminal stories is back for the original release’s 50th anniversary this September.
Originally published in 1974, Origins of Marvel Comics featured first appearances/origin stories of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Thor, and Doctor Strange by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita, Herb Trimpe, and Marie Severin.
The new edition will include the same material, specifically featuring Fantastic Four #1 and 55, Incredible Hulk #1 and 118, Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spider-Man #72, Journey into Mystery #83 and 143, and Strange Tales #115.
Chris Ryall will provide some new essays and commentary in the new edition.
An original paperback and deluxe hardcover edition from Simon and Shuster’s Gallery 13 imprint will be available at your local comic shop on September 3.
It is not clear of the cover will once again be provided by John Romita Sr., so check back with Conskipper for more details and updates about this classic collection.
