‘Namor the Submariner’ Forms ‘Titans Three’ in New Epic Collection

From the looks of the cover, one might assume that the “Titans Three” title is a reference to the team-up of Namor, Stingray, Triton, but that moniker is actually the precursor to one of the 1970’s premiere groups: The Defenders.

The latest Namor the Submariner Epic Collection contains the first version of the Defenders featuring Subby, the Hulk, and Silver Surfer in a two-part story featuring a battle with the Avengers.

Titans Three collects Sub-Mariner #28-49, Daredevil #77, and a Namor appearance from Ka-Zar #1.

All of the stories are written by Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, and Allyn Brodsky, with art by Sal Buscema, Gene Colan, Ross Andru, George Tuska, Marie Severin, Frank Springer, Mike Esposito (as Joe Gaudioso), Jim Mooney, Bernie Wrightson, John Severin, Sam Grainger, Frank Giacoia, Tom Palmer, and Dick Ayers.

Along with the titanic team-up, the stories also include in and out of water battles against fellow Atlanteans Attuma, Prince Byrrah, and Llyra, heroes Hercules and Captain Marvel, and Doctor Doom and M.O.D.O.K. for the Cosmic Cube.

Namor the Submariner: Titans Three Epic Collection consists of 512 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
