August may be a good month to stay inside if Kino Lorber Studios Classics releases are any indication of what may be waiting right outside your door.
After the success of Jaws, every studio in Hollywood attempted to capitalize on the “nature will kill you” sub-genre, with creatures big and small, and Kino Lorber Classics is offering five examples of the trend with their new Blu-ray releases.
The “creature feature” list includes: H.G. Wells’ The Food of the Gods (1976), H.G. Wells’ Empire of the Ants (1977), Frogs (1972), Squirm (1976), and Kingdom of the Spiders (1977).
All five releases will be available on August 27 from the Kino Lorber website or other retail outlets.
Each of the releases contains bonus features and new commentary tracks by various critics, film historians, and producers.
Check out the artwork for each of the discs below and stay tuned to Conskipper for all of your vintage movie news.
