‘King Kong (1976) Collector’s Edition’ Blu-Ray Coming in May From Scream Factory

It’s about time we gave some love to the often maligned 1976 Dino De Laurentiis version of King Kong, and Scream Factory is going to help everyone swing from the trees (or Twin Towers) courtesy of a new collector’s edition blu-ray this May.

Scream Factory’s King Kong Collector’s Edition Blu-ray will consist of two discs and a ton of extra features, which will be announced soon. The main star of the show is of course the cleaned up version of the film (which has never before been released on blu-ray in North America) which features the screen debut of Jessica Lange, bravura performances from Jeff Bridges and Charles Grodin, and the giant ape (portrayed by special effects legend Rick Baker in an uncredited role under the fur suit).

Scream Factory is also offering an 18″ x 24″ poster of the new blu-ray artwork with pre-orders (while supplies last). The King Kong Collector’s Edition Blu-ray will be available in stores on May 11.
