Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ ‘Die’ Wins British Fantasy Award for Best Comic/Graphic Novel

Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans’ RPG-inspired series Die from Image Comics was honored this week with the 2020 British Fantasy Award for the “Best Comic/Graphic Novel” category.

This is the fourth time in five years that an Image Comics series has taken home the title (maybe it should be renamed “Best Image Comic/Graphic Novel” Award). Previous winners include Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda for Monstress Volumes One and Two, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine DeLandro for Bitch Planet, and Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples for Saga.

Described by Image Comics “…as Jumanji with goth sensibilities, the series has stolen headlines since its launch for ushering in a new trend in RPG themed storytelling.”

Gillen and Hans’ series will soon come to an end, with the final story arc, “Bleed”, beginning in May with the release of Die #16.
