Kickstarter Campaign Resurrects 3-D Version of ‘Robot Monster’

You may not have seen the movie, but any sci-fi fan worth their salt will recognize an image of an actor in a gorilla suit with a robot head as the infamous Robot Monster (known to the truly knowledgeable as Ro-Man).

Since many of us have only seen the grainy black and white version, President and founder of the 3-D Film Archive Bob Furmanek decided to create a clean, 4K 3-D restoration of Robot Monster through his latest Kickstarter campaign.

The new version of the film was restored from the complete 35mm archival 3-D elements and will be available in DVD and Blu-ray (which will include BD3D for those with blu-ray players and televisions that support modern 3D technology and an old-fashioned, blue and red glasses version).

The original film was released in 1953 and directed by Phil Tucker and starred George Nader, Claudia Barrett, and George Burrows.

The Kickstarter campaign (which is fully funded and currently almost five times over the original production goal) is available to support until August 24.
