While the DC/Marvel rivalry isn’t what it used to be, the defection of long-time Marvel artist John Romita Jr. to the “Distinguished Competition” in 2014 was a feather in DC’s cap in the long-standing battle for market share.
After seven years of exclusive work at DC (primarily involving Superman titles), Romita Jr. will now return to “The House of Ideas”.
Romita Jr. is excited to return to Marvel Comics and said that “I have been very fortunate more than a few times in my life, and now I can add this latest event to that list. I have returned to Marvel, the company that I started my career in, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I am literally, at this very moment, working on my next big Marvel project, and it’s a blast!!! I am JUST as excited as I was when I first started, and I will do my best to let the work show that again. I hope fans will see that too!”
No projects have been announced for the artist, but Marvel is promoting his return in the month of July.
