Hayden Christensen Returns as Darth Vader on Upcoming ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Disney+ Series

Star Wars fans have been eagerly awaiting more news about Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and it appears that Kenobi’s former Padawan will be joining Ewan McGregor in the cast.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement that Hayden Christensen would be returning as Darth Vader at the annual Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day event. Kennedy also revealed that the series will take place 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Christensen is excited to return to the role, stating that “It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker. Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”

It is not clear at this time if Christensen will be in the famous suit or if he will be featured on Obi-Wan Kenobi in flashbacks, although Kennedy did promise a rematch between the master and pupil.

This will also mark Chow’s return to the Star Wars Universe, as she previously directed two episodes of The Mandalorian (in addition to Marvel’s Netflix series Iron Fist and Jessica Jones, among others).
