‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Holds Strong at Box Office

James Gunn’s farewell to the Marvel Cinematic Universe grossed an estimated $62 million in its second weekend at the box office, a mere 47 percent decline from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s first blockbuster weekend.

Guardians Vol. 3 took in another $91.9 million from international markets and now sits at $530.9 million globally, including a $215 million total in the United States.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 joined the ranks of only five other MCU films that declined by less than 50 percent in their second weekend, starting with Black Panther (45 percent) and followed by Thor (47 percent), Doctor Strange (49 percent), Iron Man (50 percent) and The Avengers (50 percent).

Can the film continue to rake in the dollars next weekend against yet another Fast and Furious film? Check back next weekend to find out!
