EPCOT Entrance Fountain Prism Pylons Return

Long-time fans of EPCOT (which will always be known as EPCOT Center to the real Walt Disney World die-hards) were pleased to see the return of the iconic fountain prism pylons at the entrance of the park.

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley broke the news via Instagram and the official Walt Disney World account reposted both the pictures and the construction video below.

It’s been amazing to see everyone’s reactions – and we’re excited to reveal the completed project later this year. Today I’m proud to share this behind-the-scenes video capturing the installation process as it happened. These three acrylic pylons, each standing over 16 feet tall and weighing more than 4,000 pounds, were digitally modeled then milled and polished using state-of-the-art technology to achieve this perfect finish and amazing reflection effect. Our team of Imagineers orchestrated the delicate process of placing the pylons in their new home, where they will welcome generations of guests to this park filled with the magic of possibility, discovery and wonder.”

The pylons are not the original ones from 1982, but they bare the same classic symbols, and will once again be placed at the main gate at the center of the fountain. The original pylons were removed in 1998 to make way for the Leave a Legacy kiosks. The kiosks have since been removed, starting in 2019.
