EC Comics/Oni Press Extend ‘Epitaphs From the Abyss’; Add ‘Cruel Kingdom’ and ‘Shiver Suspenstories’ to Line-up

EC Comics is back with a vengeance, and Oni Press is going to keep the midnight train rolling with more EC Comics stories!

According to IGN, Epitaphs From the Abyss is growing from five issues to a twelve-issue maxi-series.

Future issues of Epitaphs From the Abyss will feature stories from Charlie Adlard, Matt Bors, Matt Kindt, Matthew Rosenberg, Mark Russell, Tim Seeley, Jay Stephens, Joanne Starer, and Alexandre Tenfengki, as well as more creep-tastic covers by Lee Bermejo.

Just in time for the 2024 Holiday season, Oni will release a one-shot special in December called Shiver Suspenstories featuring horror, sci-fi, and war stories by Jason Aaron, Ben H. Winters, David Lapham, and Kano. Adam Hughes and Darick Robertson will supply the Yuletide covers for Shiver Suspensestories.

Oni will also be following up on their five-issue sci-fi anthology Cruel Universe with a dark fantasy series called Cruel Kingdom in January 2025, featuring stories from Cullen Bunn, Chris Condon, Dennis Culver, Al Ewing, Justin Jordan, and Leomacs with covers by Adam Pollina.

Oni Press President & Publisher Hunter Gorinson is reporting that Epitaphs From the Abyss #1 has sold over 65,000 copies and said “With Epitaphs From the Abyss #1 now on store shelves, it’s safe to say the full-blooded return of EC Comics to store shelves worldwide has exceeded even our own aggressive expectations to become Oni Press’ biggest Direct Market launch in a decade. We owe a huge debt of thanks to the fans, creators, and retailers who have supported this righteous resurrection for one of the most iconic and influential publishing houses in the history of the comics medium.”
