The U.S. Postal Service and Wizards of the Coast, LLC celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons with the first of their kind US postal stamps this August.
Led by Larry Elmore’s iconic Red Dragon artwork from 1983’s Basic Dungeons & Dragons set, the stamp sheets will include 10 different designs that highlight specific characters, creatures, and encounters familiar to players of D&D such as a bronze dragon, Tiamat, archlich Acererak, Drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden, and a death knight on his steed.
Greg Breeding served as art director and designer for the Dungeons & Dragons stamps.
The Dungeons & Dragons stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps at this year’s GenCon in Indianapolis on August 1, and should be available at your local post office on the same date, or shortly thereafter (unless your Post Master is left over from the “Satanic Panic” days and a stamp burning ceremony is currently scheduled for your town on August 1).
Along with the stamps, the USPS is also offering a number of collectibles with the Dungeons & Dragons artwork from the stamps such as bookmarks, notecard sets, pins, posters, envelopes, and more. If these items are not available at your local post office, they will be available from the USPS website.
Check out the stamp sheets below and be sure to get them early before your next campaign.
