‘DC Pride’ Anthology Returns for 2024

DC continues their award-winning Pride anthology in 2024 and adds two new offerings that capitalize on the spirit of inclusion as well.

DC’s LGBTQIA+ characters take center stage in DC Pride 2024 #1 on May 28, with 104 pages of stories headlined by an autobiographical story written by Phil Jimenez with art by Giulio Macaione about Jimenez’s journey through fandom.

Other entries include Dreamer’s pilgrimage to her ancestral planet, Naltor, in a story by Nicole Maines and Jordan Gibson, Poison Ivy and Janet go spore-hunting on Portworld in a story by Gretchen Felker-Martin and Claire Roe, Superman (Jon Kent), Jay, Bunker, and the Ray have a wild night in A-Town in a story by Jarrett Williams and D.J. Kirkland, Steel (Natasha Irons) tries to mend the fence with her ex, Traci 13, at the Oblivion Bar in a story by Jamila Rowser and ONeill Jones, Aquaman (Jackson Hyde) visits Jack Kirby’s Fourth World for their annual Love Festival in a story by Ngozi Ukazu, Circuit Breaker is transported to the Phantom Zone in a story by Calvin Kasulke and Len Gog, and a Mikaal Thomas (Starman) story by Al Ewing.

In addition to this year’s anthology, DC will also celebrate writer Rachel Pollack in DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack on June 6. The 96-page one-shot tribute comic book reprints the debut of Doom Patrol’s Coagula, DC’s first transgender Super Hero, from Doom Patrol #70, (pencilled by Scot Eaton), along with the hard-to-find Vertigo Visions: The Geek (with art by Michael Allred) and a new story starring Coagula by Joe Corallo and Rye Hickman.

For those who love cover art, DC Pride: Uncovered #1 (on sale June 11) offers a gallery of covers culled from previous DC Pride issues with art by the likes of Jen Bartel, Phil Jimenez, Jim Lee, Joshua “Sway” Swaby, David Talaski, Babs Tarr, Kris Anka, and more. DC Pride: Uncovered will have a main cover by Jen Bartel, with variant covers by Oscar Vega, Luciano Vecchio, Mateus Manhanini, Jim Lee, Scott Williams, and Tamra Bonvillain.
