Otto Binder and Al Plastino ushered in a new era for the Superman Family with the introduction of Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El in 1959, giving Superman (and fans) a new ally in Metropolis.
Her origin and the earliest Silver Age adventures of Supergirl are collected in her first DC Finest edition titled Supergirl: The Girl of Steel.
Girl of Steel collects Supergirl stories from Action Comics #252-288, Adventure Comics #278, Superman #139-140 and 144, Superboy #80, Superman’s Girlfriend, Lois Lane #14 and 20, and Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #40, 46, 51, and 57.
Along with creators Binder and Plastino, the stories contain work by Jerry Siegel, Robert Bernstein, Leo Dorfman, Jim Mooney, Curt Swan, John Forte, Kurt Schaffenberger, Wayne Boring, Stan Kaye, and George Klein.
DC Finest: Supergirl: The Girl of Steel consists of 624 pages for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
