DC Brings Back Vertigo Imprint for Creator-Owned Content

The home of Sandman, Hellblazer, Doom Patrol, and Preacher returns to DC Comics with reprints of the first three issues of The Nice House by the Sea.

Jim Lee announced the return of Vertigo at DC’s “Jim Lee and Friends” New York Comic Con panel. Lee brought The Nice House by the Sea writer James Tynion IV to the stage for the announcement (and called out to artist Álvaro Martínez Bueno in the crowd) and stated that the reprints will be the first new series to bear the Vertigo logo.

Vertigo will once again become the imprint synonymous with DC’s creator-owned comic books, graphic novels and collected editions, which were brought under the DC Black Label umbrella in 2020.

Executive Editor Chris Conroy confirmed on X that he will oversee both Vertigo and Black Label going forward.

Conroy stated “DC Black Label continues, with some red-hot stories for DC’s superhero characters still on the way for years to come. Vertigo puts us back into the creator-owned business in a very big way. Yes, I’m running both; no, I haven’t lost my mind yet.”
