Marvel’s latest (and soon to be their last) Conan the Barbarian Epic Collection captures some of the finest stories and art in the history of the title by Roy Thomas, John Buscema, Howard Chaykin, Tony DeZuniga, Ernie Chan, and Pablo Marcos.
Conan the Barbarian: Vengeance in Asgalun collects issues #72-88 of Marvel’s original adaptation of the dark-maned Cimmerian from 1976-1977, and sees Conan team with Bêlit, the Queen of the Black Coast, to reclaim her throne. Along the way, the power couple travels to the dangerous land of Stygia (and their requisite snake-worshippers) and the Lost Valley of Iskander, battling the Hawk-Riders of Harakht, sea serpents, giants, man-dragons, devourer of the dead, giant spiders, and a sultry sorceress by the name of Sabia (luckily for her, Bêlit was not in town at the time of the encounter).
The Epic Collection also contains a guest appearance by Red Sonja, and the introduction of Conan’s mohawk-wearing ally Zula.
The Conan the Barbarian: Vengeance in Asgalun Epic Collection consists of 328 pages with a suggested retail price of $44.99. Look for the Epic Collection at your favorite comic shop on September 28.
Check out the cover by Gil Kane (from Conan the Barbarian #72) and be sure to stay tuned to Conskipper for all your Conan news, regardless of where he may roam.
