Log Boat Sinks at Walt Disney World’s Splash Mountain

Not even Brer Rabbit could rescue riders from a sinking log flume vehicle on Sunday, as the unlucky guests took to twitter to share their submerged craft with the world.

The sinking ship (not to be confused with the Nautilus from the defunct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction) floated to the bottom of the water track after riders completed their turn on Splash Mountain.

According to the guest, the boat began taking on water, and they decided to evacuate, even though a Disney employee supposedly told them “…that we should’ve stayed in the boat but it went under as soon as we all stepped out… nice.”

Another rider (Karen Ramirez) shared a before/after picture of the submerged vehicle.

Everyone exited “the Laughing Place” safe and sound (if not wet) and the ride has since reopened.

Splash Mountain is due for a Princess and The Frog make-over in the future, but Disney has not set a time table for the reimagining of the attraction.
