TCM will air some blaxploitation classics (and one rarity) during the midnight hours on Friday, June 20.
The action starts at 12:30 am with Gordon Parks Jr.’s Superfly, starring Ron O’Neal as the conflicted drug dealer looking for one last big score.
Superfly is followed by Gordon Parks Sr.’s Shaft at 2:15 am, which also includes a mini-documentary about the making of the arguably the biggest blaxploitation hit of all time at 4:00 am.
The early morning action closes with the rare Jack Arnold film Black Eye at 4:15 am, starring Fred “The Hammer” Williamson as a private eye investigating a movie star’s death.
So whether you set your DVR or stay up all night long, be sure to enjoy TCM’s block of blaxploitation cinema.
