Benjamin Percy and artists Joshua Cassara and Federico Vicentini are ready to send Wolverine on what Percy calls “…the greatest Wolverine story ever told” in January’s X Lives of Wolverine five-issue mini-series.
Percy realizes that his proclamation is “…a bold statement” (in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly) but the writer also made sure to explain that he was “…not trying to belittle previous creators when I say that. The opposite. I’m trying to honor them. When we reveal the expansive scope—and legacy elements—of the project, you’ll understand what I mean. We’re creating a definitive platform that channels all the Wolverine stories that came before, while shredding our way into a wild future.”
Percy’s untangling of the many threads in Wolverine’s complex history will certainly be a monumental task, so it is fitting that the first issue arrives with a monumental amount of variant covers! X Lives of Wolverine arrives with a total of 11 covers from such artists as Adam Kubert, Peach Momoko, Ron Lim, Jorge Molina, and Mark Bagley.
