Waiting over 35 years for a sequel to Beetlejuice didn’t harm the box office outcome for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which delivered an estimated $110 million at the weekend box office.
The blockbuster horror comedy delivered well above expectations as the second-biggest September debut of all time, behind only 2017’s It ($123 million). Beetlejuice Beetlejuice also came in third place for the highest debut so far this year, only behind Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out.
The Tim Burton sequel fared well with critics and fans alike with a current score of 76% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes and a “popcornmeter” score (audience score) of 82% and a grade of “B+” from Cinemascore.
With little competition on the horizon until October, expect “the Juice” to continue to dominate the fall box office frame.
Check back next week to see how far Beetlejuice can climb the box office ladder.
