‘Batman: A Death in the Family: The Deluxe Edition’ Will Include Never-Before Published Artwork That Shows How Jason Todd Could Have Survived

Jim Starlin, Jim Aparo, and Mike DeCarlo’s seminal Batman storyline from 1988, “A Death in the Family”, will receive the deluxe hardcover treatment this April. The Deluxe Edition will not only contain the entire storyline and the ancillary stories from The New Teen Titans, but it will also include the long hidden pages that show what would have happened if Jason Todd had lived.

Batman: A Death in the Family The Deluxe Edition collects Batman #426-429, #440-442, The New Titans #60-61, and material from Batman Annual #25, as well as the never-published before alternative artwork.

The fate of Robin was actually decided by fans, who called into a 900 number hotline (which cost 50 cents per call) to cast their votes (and you can check out the original ad below). Allegedly, over 10,000 fans called in and Todd’s face was decided by a measly 72 votes.

Batman: A Death in the Family The Deluxe Edition will be available on April 13, 2021 and will retail for $49.99.
