‘Avengers: Judgment Day’ Epic Collection Finishes off Roger Stern’s Run

Roger Stern’s fan-favorite run comes to an end in the reprinted Avengers: Judgment Day Epic Collection.

Originally collected in 2014, Judgment Day finishes Stern’s “epic” run on The Avengers with a battle with the Greek Gods for the life of fellow Avenger Hercules, as well as his X-Men vs Avengers mini-series from 1987.

As added bonuses, Judgment Day also collects the two part Avengers/West Coast Avengers Annual crossover, “The Day Death Died”, and the hard-to-find Emperor Doom graphic novel by David Michelinie and Bob Hall.

The Judgment Day Epic Collection contains The Avengers #278-285 and Annual #16, Avengers: Emperor Doom graphic novel, X-Men vs. the Avengers (1987) #1-4, and Avengers West Coast Annual #2.

Top tier Marvel artists John Buscema, Tom Palmer, Kyle Baker, John Romita, Jr., Bill Sienkiewicz, Keith Pollard, Al Williamson, Marshall Rogers, Bob Layton, Jackson Guice, Kevin Nowlan, Ron Frenz, Bob Wiacek, Joe Rubinstein, Bob McLeod, Al Milgrom, and Marc Silvestri are also represented in the collection, along with writers Tom Defalco, Bob Harras, Steve Englehart, and Jim Shooter.

Stern’s run actually ends with the first two chapters of a new five part storyline involving the Mad Thinker that began in Avengers #286, but Stern’s mid-story replacement, Ralph Macchio would complete the arc, starting in Avengers #288.

Avengers: Judgment Day Epic Collection will be available at your local comic shop on January 5. The collection contains 464 pages for the suggested retail price of $39.99.
