Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to gain devotees every week it would seem (especially with Netflix picking up the series a few months ago) even though the series went off the air in 2008.
So whether you are a long-time fan, or someone who just binge-watched the critically acclaimed cartoon, Dark Horse Comics is going to give you a reason to visit your local comic shop or bookstore next February with the release of the new graphic novel Avatar The Last Airbender—Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy!
According to the official word from Dark Horse, Toph has been keeping busy running her own dojo after the end of the Nickelodeon series wrapped up, but now “…things feel dull. Luckily, Sokka and Suki come to visit and reintroduce some familiar faces from their wandering days. And while out and about to celebrate, Toph discovers something that just might put the spring back in her step.”
Avatar The Last Airbender—Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy is written by Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl, The Nameless City) and drawn by Peter Wartman (Stonebreaker), with colors by Adele Matera. Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series writer Tim Hedrick even took part as a collaborator, to insure that the graphic novel follows the continuity of the cartoon.
Avatar: The Last Airbender—Toph Beifong’s Metalbending Academy will be released on February 16, 2021 and will retail for $12.99.
