Marvel rolls out another collection of the original Dark Horse Aliens comics in the second volume of the Aliens: The Original Years Epic Collection.
The stories (originally published from 1990 to 1992) include a number of mini-series, a graphic novel, and some rare anthologized tales.
Volume 2 collects Aliens: Genocide #1-4 by Mike Richardson, John Arcudi, Damon Willis, and Karl Story (along with the two-part prologue by Arcudi, Tony Atkins, and Paul Guinan from Dark Horse Presents #56), Aliens: Hive #1-4 by Jerry Prosser and Kelley Jones, the Aliens: Tribes graphic novel (originally released in hardcover) by Steve Bissette and Dave Dorman, and Aliens: Newts Tale #1-2 by Richardson, Jim Somerville, and Brian Garvey.
The stories are rounded out by the Aliens story from Dark Horse Presents Fifth Anniversary Special trade paperback anthology (by Arcudi and Simon Bisley) and the rare Dark Horse Insider Aliens snippets in issues #14-27. Dark Horse Insider was a weekly, free preview of upcoming releases, which usually contained some very short original content.
Although not technically canon, the stories in the Epic Collection take place either right before James Cameron’s Aliens film and before David Fincher’s Aliens 3.
Aliens: The Original Years Epic Collection consists of 456 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
