DC’s answer to the sword-and-sorcery craze of the 1970s and ’80s is finally collected in The Warlord by Mike Grell Omnibus Vol. 1.
Volume 1 collects 1st Issue Special #8, Warlord #1-50, and Amazing World of DC Comics #12.
Joe Rubinstein and Vince Colletta add some inks to Grell’s stories and art, and the Omnibus also includes a new introduction by Grell.
The remastered stories (presented in their original colors) feature Lt. Colonel Travis Morgan’s first adventures on the lost world of Skartaris, where he encounters dark sorcerers, hungry dinosaurs, and fierce warriors by the dozens.
Morgan is aided by Shamballah’s Princess Tara, the wandering King and warrior Machiste, shapeshifter Shakira, and Russian scientist Mariah Romanova.
Many of the issues, especially past the first 28 issues, have never been collected before in any format.
The Warlord by Mike Grell Omnibus Vol. 1 consists of 736 pages for a suggested retail price of $100.00.
