What we ended up with was a movie that felt more like the original Resident Evil video game than any of the previous entries in the storied Jurassic Park franchise. Apparently, this didn’t work for everybody, but at least they tried something different!
Corben’s distinct style, either in color or black and white, inspired many of the generation of artists that came of age during the late 70s and 80s, discovering his artwork through comic magazines such as Creepy, Eerie, and Heavy Metal. His unmistakable illustrations of tortured souls, physically perfect barbarians, and grotesque creatures continue to delight fans through many of the projects that the artist continues to produce.
Hereditary has all of the makings of a modern horror classic for discerning horror fans. Unforgettably haunting and “sleep with the lights on” scary, this movie is easily one of the best horror films of the decade.
Most horror comics fall into three broad categories: Tales from the Crypt style shockers, creature features, and gore fests. Very few are able to incorporate horror elements and topical subtext to transcend the genre, but Image Comics Infidel by Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell certainly does.
While some of its modern examples of camera work and sound design sometimes get in the way of an incredible cast and some genuine moments of excellent cinematography, the series is as mysterious and thought-provoking as ever.
