Bring 1976’s ‘King Kong’ Back to Theaters for 50th Anniversary!

2026 marks the 50th Anniversary of the release of John Guillermin’s 1976 King Kong remake and fans want a theatrical rerelease to celebrate the King!

The remake of the classic 1933 film starring Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin, and featuring mechanical effects by Carlo Rambaldi and makeup effects (and suit work) by Rick Baker, may not have aged like a fine Skull Island vintage, but the film is still beloved by legions of Kong-heads everywhere.

With a 4K UHD restoration in recent years (for the latest home video release), the film is ready for its close-up on the silver screen once again.

Let’s let Paramount Pictures know that we want to see the King again in our local theaters. You can send a general comment to Paramount through their “Contact Us” link right here.

Be courteous, respectful, and passionate (think Kong with Jessica Lange in the waterfall scene…well, maybe not that passionate) and let Paramount know that the official anniversary date is December 17, 1976, and that the clock is ticking.
