‘Batman: Sword of Azrael’ Released in Deluxe Edition for First Time

Jean Paul Valley gets the deluxe hardcover treatment for the first time in the new Batman: Sword of Azrael edition.

The Batman: Sword of Azrael Deluxe Edition collects 1992’s red-hot four-issue series of the same name and the Azrael/Ash one-shot comic.

The Sword of Azrael mini-series by Denny O’Neil, Joe Quesada, Kevin Nowlan, and Jimmy Palmiotti set the stage for Bruce Wayne’s Bane-induced retirement and Valley’s rise to power in the Batman: Knightfall saga.

The Batman: Sword of Azrael Deluxe Edition features a new wraparound cover and introduction by Quesada, preliminary character designs, original art pages, and more.

For as popular as the series was in 1992, the mini-series has only been collected once in a trade paperback edition in 1993.

The Deluxe Edition consists of 240 pages for the suggested retail price of $34.99.
