Conan the Barbarian: Vengeance in Asgalun collects issues #72-88 of Marvel’s original adaptation of the dark-maned Cimmerian from 1976-1977, and sees Conan team with Bêlit, the Queen of the Black Coast, to reclaim her throne.
Although fans may remember the 1980 debut of the tales of Conan’s reign being titled King Conan, the upcoming omnibus entitled Conan the King: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1 is sure to bring back some good memories.
Following Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor Smith’s initial run on Robert E. Howard’s most famous barbarian, Thomas would be joined by John Buscema on the character, launching one of the most memorable eras for Conan and defining his look for generations to come.
Marvel is not only taking full advantage of their current Robert E. Howard’s Conan license, but they are also getting their monies worth out of Howard’s second most famous barbarian: Kull the Conqueror.
