Luckily, for those who missed out on the landmark comics the first time around, the originals are being collected in a mammoth compendium this October.
One of the most welcome announcements at 2020’s DC FanDome event was the return of the Milestone universe to the DC Comics publishing schedule.
Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan has just signed on to help bring Milestone’s Static Shock to the big screen.
The first three offerings include: Hardware “The Man in the Machine” (by Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, and J.J. Birch), Icon “A Hero’s Welcome” (by McDuffie and M.D. Bright), and Icon Vol. 2 “The Mothership Connection” (by McDuffie, Bright, and Mike Gustovich).
Milestone was revolutionary at the time for creating an entire comic universe (the so-called Dakotaverse) comprised of a very diverse roster of heroes and villains. The original publishing venture lasted until 1996. Milestone Media was also responsible for the WB’s animated hit series Static Shock, which ran from 2000 through 2004.
