It appears that the Secrets of Dumbledore are not juicy enough to keep fans coming into theaters, as the latest Fantastic Beasts film fell off sharply in its second weekend.
Fantastic Beats: The Secrets of Dumbledore won the weekend box office, although Warner Bros. undoubtedly hoped for more from the third film in the latest Harry Potter-verse series.
While fan and critical reactions to Morbius have been weaker than a vampire in daylight, the long-delayed film led the box office with an estimated $40.8 million.
Warner Bros.’ The Batman continued to dominate the box office for the third week in a row with an estimated $36.8 million in sales, while Crunchyroll’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was able to pack theaters with anime fans for a strong second place finish to the tune of $17.7 million.
The Batman’s second weekend only fell off by -50.7% from the previous weekend, bringing its domestic total to $238.5 million.
With Robert Pattinson under the cowl, The Batman took in $57 million on Friday (including $21.6 million for late Thursday showings), and looks to have legs, with a positive fan and critical reception so far.
